Description

A richly ornamented French giltwood mirror from the Napoleon III period, executed in the elegant Louis XV revival style that became highly fashionable in the mid-19th century.

The horizontal rectangular frame is finely carved with exuberant rocaille motifs, scrolling acanthus leaves, foliage and floral elements. The impressive cresting is centered by a classical urn overflowing with fruit and foliage, flanked by dynamic scrolling branches and stylized birds, creating a lively and balanced decorative composition typical of the Louis XV taste.

The lower section features an elaborate cartouche with scrolling ornament and acanthus leaves, harmonizing beautifully with the upper crest. The deep carving and warm gilded surface emphasize the sculptural quality of the frame, giving the mirror both richness and refinement.

With its generous horizontal proportions and expressive carving, this mirror forms a striking decorative piece, suitable for both classical and eclectic interiors.
