Description

Bathed in celestial serenity, Night embodies the ethereal grace of 19th-century Italian marble sculpture.
Carved from fine Carrara marble, the figure stands poised on a globe, her veil flowing like a constellation of stars — a poetic allegory of the nocturnal heavens.
Her delicate features and softly modelled drapery reveal the unmistakable mastery of the Carrara ateliers, where Demetrio Caruji worked in the grand classical tradition.

A comparable example of this rare model is recorded at Christie’s, sold on 21 April 2021, confirming its importance within the artist’s refined oeuvre.
