Description

This exquisite pair of Empire candelabras, originating from France, exemplifies the refined neoclassical style that flourished in the early 19th century. Standing at an impressive height of 58 cm with a width of 19 cm, these candelabras exude elegance and grandeur. Each piece is centered around a meticulously crafted caryatid figure, a female sculpture draped in classical attire, symbolizing strength and grace. The candelabras are made of gilt and patinated bronze, creating a sophisticated contrast between the warm golden accents and the deep, aged patina of the figures. The caryatids stand upon a square ornamented pedestal, richly decorated with gilded Empire-style motifs, including stylized foliage and classical embellishments. Above the figures, three candle holders extend in a symmetrical composition, adorned with acanthus leaves and finely detailed arms. The central top is designed in the shape of a torch, a popular Empire-style motif, referencing classical antiquity and symbolizing enlightenment. With their majestic presence and superb craftsmanship, these candelabras are not merely functional objects but also sculptural masterpieces, enhancing any classical or historical interior with their luxurious charm. Origin: France, ca. 19th century
